Programme Description
The programme is designed to prepare graduates for an entry qualification to practice as a first level general and obstetrics nurse practitioner in Fiji and the Pacific. The degree should also enable the graduate to be comparable and eligible for registrations in other countries such as New Zealand and Australia. As an entry qualification for nursing practice in Fiji, the graduates promise to improve and enhance the quality of nursing services including the total delivery of health services in Fiji and the Pacific.
Moreover the programme no doubt underpins the graduate profile embodied by the Nursing Council, namely; the following skills:
i. Critical analysis, reflection and inquiry oriented, be able to use evidence in care
ii. Appropriately respond to health needs of families and societies etc.
iii. Provide Holistic and culturally safe nursing care to Fijians within relevant legal provisions
iv. Is capable of birthing women and is able to function at first level practice in all nursing areas;  physical, mental, psychological, disability, sick and well.
Any clinical attachment performed without registration will be nullified
Majors Nursing
Minimum Requirement
Direct Entry:
1. A pass in Year 13 examination or   equivalent with a minimum aggregate mark of 250 out of 400 with 50% pass in English and best three subjects: Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. OR
2. A pass in full Foundation Science programme or equivalent with a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.5 out of 4.5 or 2.53 out of 5.0 including a pass in English and best three subjects: Biology, Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics. OR;
3. A pass in Bridging or Unclassified Foundation Science programme with a minimum GPA of 2.5 out of 4.5 or 2.53 out of 5.0 including a pass in English, and best three subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics OR;
4. Applicants with a certificate or a diploma in Enrolled Nursing with a minimum GPA of 3 out of 5.
5. Other than the fresh School leavers, alternative entry criteria maybe considered by the Dean or Dean authorized teaching staff. This includes applicants who are able to demonstrate their ability to succeed in this programme on the basis of their maturity together with relevant work experience (from Supervisors) or/and prior learning may be considered for placement. The Dean or Dean authorized teaching staff may require such an applicant to sit for any specific or general examination as a prerequisite for any such enrolment, or may restrict enrolment only to certain prescribed courses that must be passed to progress further, as per the University Academic & Student Regulations (UASR 4.4 pg. 19).
6. If the quotas for either the local or regional/international candidates is not met, then the MER may be considered until the quota for local and regional/international students is reached. However, marks below 230/400 or GPA below 2.5 out of 4.5 or 2.2 out of 5.0, or equivalent will not be considered. 
7. Regional and international applicants will need qualifications assessed by Educational Quality and Assessment Programme (EQAP-SPC)
Lateral Entry:
1. A Registered Nurse with a Diploma in Nursing and having valid practising license.
2. Has worked in either hospital or community setting.
3. Will be required to do additional 2 courses for Fiji graduates and 4 courses for applicants from the Region.

4. Applicants with a Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing Practice (Nurse Practitioner) will be required to do only 1 course. 
5. Applicants for further Lateral Entry requirements will be guided by the CMNHS Student Admission Guideline.
