The Department of Student Services under the Office of the Registrar understands the importance of students having a fun filled and exciting university life. In keeping this a priority, the University ensures that students have a memorable residential and campus life at Fiji National University.
The University firmly believes in providing an environment that encompasses a holistic learning experience for all its students. The residential life program at Fiji National University is also based on the belief that Hostel living can provide a unique opportunity for students to gain a variety of experiences that supplement and complement the formal classroom.
Our program strives to meet the many and varied needs of students who are from diverse cultural backgrounds. The goal of the residential life staff is to develop an environment that is supportive of students’ academic endeavours and that promotes individual development. It is expected that students will act as adults in a mature and responsible manner and contribute to their hall community, since involvement is essential for personal development and growth.
Our programs include Hostel Orientation, Cultural Volunteer Program, Drugs and Substance Abuse Awareness, Movie and Karaoke nights, Hostel Clean Up and Residential Talanoa session.
The residential life program also includes safe, clean, and comfortable facilities. Additionally, the program fosters communities that emphasise the acceptance of responsibility for personal and group decision making, mutual respect, concern, a sense of cooperation and sharing, and the empowerment of students to become active and participating members of the residence halls and local communities.
Being a university student is both highly challenging and rewarding. We recognise the importance of healthy living for students, especially when it comes to balancing the many demands of obtaining university education. The Student Health and Wellness Unit is committed to promoting wellness in all aspects of a student’s life, be it emotional, intellectual, social or spiritual.
