Initially established in 2014, the Quality office has since grown and now houses essential sections such as the Program Design & Standards and the Monitoring & Compliance Offices.
Welcome to the Programme Design and Standards Office (PD&SO), which was initially established as the Quality Office in 2014 at the Fiji National University (FNU).
The Manager Programme Design & Standards Office leads this office and is primarily responsible for providing strategic direction to ensure that all the TVET and Academic programmes of study and short courses are of high quality and benchmarked to meet the national and international standards.
The staff at PD&SO takes a capacity-building approach to train programme developers in understanding government requirements and institutional guidelines with respect to learning outcomes, Essential Employability Skills, University Graduate Attributes and Programme Structure. The Office works in collaboration with all the Associate Deans Learning & Teaching and Heads of Training to oversee that the Programme Developer or the Development Teams are sufficiently prepared and competent to prepare Programme Documentation.
The PD&SO has produced guidelines for new programme development and curriculum modification that ensures curriculum planning, development, and validation are consistent with the standards set by the Fiji Higher Education Commission (FHEC) and FNU. Our Procedure (for Programme Initiation, Planning, Designing, Development, Approval and Recording – New and Changes to Existing Programme) take programme developers through the process of developing a new program from concept to approval to implementation and guides them through the process of revising existing courses and programmes.
By the end of 2021 the PD&SO intends to widen its scope in the five key areas:
The PD&SO Website is still under construction and if you have any general enquiry, we recommend contacting us at email mpds@fnu.ac.fj. Alternatively, our staff are more than happy to answer your questions.
The Monitoring and Compliance Office ensures that the FNU academic programmes are fit for the purpose, gives value for money and is consistent in meeting both the external and internal requirements for academic compliance and customer expectations.
The Monitoring and Compliance Strategic Plan 2020-2022 sets out the high-level goals and targets designed to keep the mission, values and vision at the centre of what we do. The Manager Monitoring & Compliance leads this office and is primarily responsible for providing strategic direction to ensure that all the academic programmes and courses are effectively delivered through high-quality teaching, timely audits, plans and actions to generate progress reports for quality improvements for a life-changing impact on the learners.
The Office works in collaboration with all the Associate Deans Learning & Teaching to oversee that the Colleges are engaging appropriate learning and teaching methods for appropriate delivery of the qualifications. This section is further responsible for ensuring that the learning outcomes, the assessment methodologies and the quality assurance processes are intact and regularly monitored.
The M&C Website is still under construction and if you have any general enquiry, we recommend contacting us at email mmc@fnu.ac.fj or dmmc@fnu.ac.fj. Alternatively, our staff are more than happy to answer your questions.
