Programme Description
This course is aimed at students who:
1. Are seeking a career in the Automotive Engineering Trades Industry

3. Wish to undertake a course in which they can gain recognition of prior learning or credit transfer when entering appropriately related post-school education and training, and require a foundation of skills and knowledge that can be built on as the need arises

Programme Objectives
1. To acquire extensive knowledge, practical, reasoning and solving skills applied to problems in the real world of work related to the Certificate IV in Automobile Engineering (Heavy Commercial Vehicles)

2. The range of skills and knowledge in the automotive trade industry has increased and will continue to grow. New technologies are constantly replacing recent ones, so there is a great need for people involved at any level in the production or use to be adaptable. Students and workers must acquire knowledge quickly and develop and apply new skills effectively. These skills are transferable and can be used across various trades and industries. It is also important to maintain traditional skills and attitudes used with older technologies to underpin and support the newer technologies.

3. To be practically competent in solving engineering problems concerning Heavy Commercial Vehicles.

(b) Mature applicants with less than the above requirements but at least two years of industrial experience can be considered.
(c) A pass in Cert III in Automotive Engineering.
