Unit Name: Mechanical Systems Workshop
Description: This is a first step course and is designed to introduce you to the basics of the Mechanical System. It will provide you with some of the theory and basic practical skills. It is designed to inspire you to want to learn more about the subject and provide you with a basis for undertaking a skills course at level IV or higher. The unit is designed to support hand skills and provide a clearer and better understanding of vehicle types that you will be working upon. You will be expected to complete this unit in workshop safety, introduction to motor vehicle, workshop tools and equipment, gaskets, bearings, seals, fasteners, adhesives, engine classification, lubrication system and cooling system.
Learning Target Outcomes: 1. Practice workshop health and safety procedures required in motor vehicle industry. 2. Distinguish body types and component. 3. Dismantle, inspect and reassemble engine components. 4. Demonstrate different engine classification and the use of gaskets, seals, fasteners, adhesives and bearings. 5. Carry out service on engine lubricating and cooling system.
