Programme Name Certificate in Geology, Mining and Quarrying (Level 4)
Programme Description
The Certificate IV in Geology, Mining and Quarrying Programme aims to provide a broad-based, vocational programme for the technical workforce, specializing in geology, mining and quarrying in Fiji. Emphasis will be placed wherever possible on practical “hands-on” teaching methods. There will be a deliberate focus on the neglected or development minerals in particular sand and gravel given the anticipated increase in the need for these commodities in the development expectations of Fiji now and in the years ahead.

The programme can be undertaken in a two (2) years full time or four (4) years part-time studies. The full-time studies consist of four (4) Quarters of the first year, preceding to a mandatory 12 months/1 year of supervised and monitored industrial training of the second year.

Minimum Requirement
Fresh School Leavers from secondary education
1. Minimum entry requirement shall be to pass in Fiji School Leaving Certificate (FSLC; 12 years of education with continuous progression) or its equivalent with at least 50 % marks in Mathematics, English, Physics, and any of the science subjects such as Chemistry, Technical Drawing and Computer Studies. The students are admitted directly in the first stage of the Cert IV programme. 
2. Holders of Certificates at Level III or equivalent in a relevant discipline may also be admitted into the programme.
3. Matured applicants with 3 years of relevant industrial experience subject to the approval of the Dean CEST.
