Unit Name: Field Study (1 week)

Description: This Unit will introduce the student to the geology of Fiji and its mineral resources potential (in particular sand and gravel) through a 5-day trip to Western Viti Levu and include visits to Sigatoka Fine Sand Quarry, Sigatoka Iron Sands, Qalimare Limestone, Nasaucoko Manganese abandoned mine, Sand and Gravel Mining in the Nadi Basin, Bauxite in Lautoka, Tovatu and Vatukoula Gold Mines, Ba River Delta Iron Sands, and Fiji Water. The unit will be assessed through a field report submitted by each student.
