Unit Name: Land Management

Description: This Unit will begin with an introduction of land management and land use planning principles. Land use planning a challenge with lots of good ideas and little data and information. This will be followed by an in depth look at land ownership, role of landlords, management and use in Fiji. This will include a historical look and present day functions of the Ministry of iTaukei Affairs, and the iTaukei Land Trust Board (iTLTB), Department of Lands and Town and Country Planning in Fiji (Laws of Fiji, Cap 139 and Cap 140). A case study of the development planning, operation and proposed rehabilitation plans for the Waimanu Quarry operated by Flame Tree will be carried out.
