Programme Name Diploma in Engineering (Civil) (Level 6)
Programme Description
The aims of the Diploma in Engineering (Civil) (DE (Civil) programme are: 
 
•	To prepare students for further study in the Bachelor of Engineering (Honors) Civil Engineering programme in Fiji or in overseas.  
•	To acquaint the students with the standard construction practices, tools and procedures used in the industry.  
•	To prepare students to be capable and able to understand and assist the professional Civil Engineers in the following areas of engineering: 
•	Analysis of technical problems in design of engineering structures 
•	Perform geotechnical investigations leading to preparation of Geotechnical Report 
•	Perform land survey leading to the draughting of topographical land maps 
•	Preparation of quantity surveying of proposed horizontal and vertical engineering structures including water pipeline and water retaining structures, roadway embankment and bridges, railways, airports, buildings, reinforced concrete overflow check dams and rain and storm water drainage systems.

Minimum Requirement
1. Minimum entry requirement (MER) for this programme shall be a pass in Fiji Year 12 Certificate Examination (Y12CE) (12 years of education with continuous progression) or its equivalent with at least 50 % marks in Mathematics, English, Physics, and any of the science subjects such as Chemistry, Technical Drawing and Computer Studies. The students are admitted directly in first year of the DCE programme.

2. Holders of Certificates at Level IV or equivalent in relevant discipline may also be admitted into the programme.

3. Matured applicants with relevant industrial experience subject to the approval of the Dean CETVET.
