Unit Code: CED606

Unit Name: Mechanics of Structures II

Description: When engineers are required to analyse a structure, it is necessary to know about the analytical behaviour of complex structural engineering problems under various loads to carry out the design. This course will help you to understand lateral load analysis, concepts, principles, different loading actions and their effects while analysing various statically indeterminate structures. As an engineer, excellent comprehension of how to make structural analyses for buildings, bridges, and other facilities is necessary. This course is also expected to understand how standard software packages (routinely used for frame analysis in design offices) operate, like SPACE GASS and AUTODESK-ROBOT STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS. Students must model different beams, frames, and trusses under various loading conditions to assess their effects and compare the software analytical results with the classroom problems.
