Unit Name: Engineering Capstone Project

Description: The Capstones are substantial culminating learning experiences that take place in the final stages of the Diploma in Engineering program, offering closure and focus for the sense of achievement that comes with completing this program. The Capstone will usually incorporate some research, development of professional capabilities and critical reflective practice. The Capstone experiences or projects make up one whole semester course and may be a group-based projects with individualized components, or an individual project. Moreover, this course aims to highlight the concepts of sustainable aspects to mitigate change-induced disasters in the context of pacific island nations. Life cycle & circular economy concepts relevant to design, analysis and synthesis of national building and infrastructure projects. Concepts relevant to resource consumption, environmental impact assessment and cost-benefit analysis has to be integrated in line with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 9 & 13.
