The programme is two years full-time programme.  Graduates will be competent in area of freshwater, coastal aquaculture and mariculture, fish breeding and hatchery and pond management and aquaculture craft and gear technology, aquaculture nutrition and aquatic farming systems. The graduates will have acquired an education at a level that will equip them for employment, self-employment and lay the foundations for a lifetime of continuous learning and personal development.

1.	A pass in Fiji Year 12 Certificate Examination or equivalent with a pass in English and a minimum aggregate mark of 200 out of 400 including Biology, and/or Agriculture Science and completion of any other subject(s): Mathematics (Pure/Life), Chemistry / Geography / Food & Nutrition Technology / Physics/Computer Science / Economics / Accounting / Introduction to Technology or;

2.	Applicants with Diploma in Tropical Agriculture are also eligible to apply for admission.

3.	Applicants with Certificate IV in Agriculture are eligible for admission in Year 2 of the programme with conditions applied or; Applicants with Certificate III in Commercial Agriculture/ Certificate in Agriculture (Level 3) or equivalent are eligible for admission in Year 1 of the programme or; Applicants who have passed Preliminary Science or equivalent are eligible for admission in Year 1 of the programme or;

4.	Applicants may also be admitted to the programme who may not meet the requirement on the years of continuous education progression, but who are able to demonstrate their ability to succeed in the respective programmes on the basis of their maturity, work experience, or prior learning. The Dean may require such an applicant to sit for any specific or general examination as a prerequisite for any such enrolment or may restrict enrolment only to certain prescribed courses that must be passed to progress further.
