Programme Description |
The fully online CHPFS programme is a one-year full-time study with 120 credit points. Students will study 10 courses that cover foundation/basic topics in Communication, Human Anatomy, Physiology & Biochemistry, Computer Technology, Epidemiology & Application to Biostatistics, Applied Sciences, Health Systems and Social Determinants of Health, Health Challenges for the 21st Century and Behavioral Sciences.
In doing so, the qualified students will be better equipped to venture into the pathway towards becoming a thoroughly prepared and trained clinician at the choice of the students within the 5 Schools at CMNHS.
This is an additional option for the student to choose from, particularly for students in the region, in the other existing Foundation Programmes at the University of the South Pacific, University of Fiji and Fiji National University, who currently offer generic Foundation Sciences Programmes. This programme is specifically for students who want to pursue a health professional career.

Minimum Requirement |
1. A pass in Fiji Year 12 Certificate Examination or equivalent with a minimum aggregate mark of 250 out of 400 including a pass in English plus three Science subjects (Biology, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Agricultural Sciences, Home Economics, Computer studies. OR.
2. A pass in Preliminary Science programme with minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.5 out of 4.5 or 2.53 out of 5.0 including a pass in English plus three Science subjects (Biology, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Agricultural Sciences, Home Economics, Computer studies. OR.
3. Conditional enrolment or alternative entry: applicants who are able to demonstrate their ability to succeed in this programme on the basis of their maturity together with relevant work experience in health profession or prior learning may be considered for placement upon approval by the Dean or/and the Programme Coordinator, as per the University Academic & Student Regulations (UASR).
4. Regional and international applicants will be considered for admission based on the assessment by the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC)’s Educational Quality and Assessment Programme (EQAP).
5. Applicants from the US Freely Associated States (Republic of Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, and the Republic of Palau) must graduate from high school (12th grade or senior year) and obtain a grade point average (GPA) of 3 out of 4.
