Description: English I – for Academic Purpose is designed to improve the specialist English language and communication literacy knowledge of nurses, doctors and healthcare professionals. This will enable them to work more confidently and effectively. The emphasis will be on reading, writing, listening and speaking, and core areas of patient health care will be covered. The course will be relevant and motivating as students will do authentic tasks and activities based on everyday health-care scenarios. The course will also rely on online activities from websites cited below which focus on the latest advances in medical technology and health care. These will help to keep students up-to-date and confident when faced with unfamiliar equipment in new environments.
