Unit Name: Introduction to Epidemiology & Application to Biostatistics

Description: HPF406 is conducted over a single semester and is fully administered online in three modules. Module 1 introduces the concepts of basic epidemiology, and the study of measures and methods used in Epidemiology. This module will also have students to discuss various study designs in Epidemiology (cross-sectional, case-control, cohort, experimental study designs and systematic reviews/meta-analyses). In module 2, students will demonstrate an understanding of basic statistical concepts. Students will be expected to discuss statistical concepts and apply appropriate basic techniques to analyze numerical and categorical health data. In Module 3 students will apply all the concepts learnt in the two modules, and create descriptive statistics into an information product such as an e-Poster using software. Course assessment activities will include online two quizzes and one assignments as 100% continuous assessments in this course.
