Application for Student Bursary Scheme

Who is eligible to apply?

Entry is open to all first year fulltime local students who are enrolled in any undergraduate Bachelor’s programme at FNU in 2021 and are not on any form of scholarship or sponsorship.

To be considered, the applicant must have applied to Student Bursary Scheme, met the conditions:

  • The applicant must have scored a minimum of 250 marks in Year 13 or have a minimum GPA of 2.5 in full time foundation studies (4 subjects).
  • Applicants must be enrolled in an undergraduate Bachelor’s program at FNU and have a FNU student ID by 26th February, 2021
  • The applicant should have a combined family income of not more of $20,000.00

Scholarship Value

$2,000 tuition assistance for the year distributed on termly basis.

How to Apply?

All applications need to be made using SAS form 23 available on FNU website or available at all FNU Academic Services Office.

Applicants need to fill in all details and attach the following supporting documents:

  • Verified evidence of family income of no more than FJD $20,000 per year. In any absence of evidence, a statutory declaration must be submitted.

Closing Date

  • Applications has been extended till Friday, 12th March 2021, 4pm. All forms need to be submitted to the Student Support Coordinator on Successful Applicants will be notified in writing or by telephone by mid- April

Selection Criteria

Six applicants from each of the five FNU Colleges will be selected for the FNU Student Bursary Scheme. If in any instance, the University is not able to award the assistance to the required number of 6 per College, the award will be transferred to other Colleges at the discretion of the selection committee. The FNU Student Bursary Scheme will be awarded to students, whose application, in the panel’s opinion, most clearly evidences their commitment to their subject discipline. The selection panel shall comprise of the Vice Chancellor, University Registrar, Dean College of Humanities and Education and Director Finance.


Successful applicants must meet all of the conditions of their offer of a place at the University and have successfully enrolled in an undergraduate Bachelor’s programme no later than 26th February to be eligible for the FNU Student Bursary Scheme.

The Registrar of the Fiji National University will determine whether the application meets the criteria and can be considered for the sponsorship.

To be eligible to continue to receive allocation in the second term, student must maintain full load, be enrolled and have satisfactory performance in their studies as verified by Dean of the College.

Payment of Award

The University reserves the right to withhold or reserve or terminate payment in the event of inappropriate behaviour which breaches the University’s regulations.

Responsibilities of the FNU Student Bursary Scheme Sponsored Students

  • Abide by the University regulations for academic and personal behaviour
  • Act as an ambassador and engage in promotional activities for the Fiji National University.
  • Agree that the University may use the names of the sponsored students, their photographs and audio and/or visual recordings of them in publicity and marketing materials.
