Programme Description
This programme focuses on linguistics, varieties of languages, second language acquisition, approach to language and literary studies, prose, poetry, and classical and contemporary drama in English and  Hindi/ iTaukei /Urdu languages. The programme offers a major in English and a minor in the local vernacular languages. This is a coherent and comprehensive programme of literary studies and provides a broad liberal arts background. It provides the opportunity to develop advanced critical reading and thinking skills. The vernacular courses can be substituted with minors from other disciplines such as Social Science, Commerce, Media and Journalism, Science, Agriculture or Engineering.

Minimum Requirement
a)A pass in the Fiji Seventh Form Examination or equivalent with a total of 200 or more marks, 50% in English, plus best 3. 
b)Applicant may also be admitted to the programme who may not meet the requirement on the years of continuous education progression, but who are able to demonstrate their ability to succeed in programmes at these levels on the basis of their maturity, work experience or prior learning and are 21 years of age
