This programme focuses on linguistics, varieties of languages, second language acquisition, approach to language and literary studies, prose, poetry, and classical and contemporary drama in English and  Hindi/ iTaukei /Urdu languages. The programme offers a major in English and a minor in the local vernacular languages. This is a coherent and comprehensive programme of literary studies and provides a broad liberal arts background. It provides the opportunity to develop advanced critical reading and thinking skills. The vernacular courses can be substituted with minors from other disciplines such as Social Science, Commerce, Media and Journalism, Science, Agriculture or Engineering. 

A pass in Year 13 or equivalent with 50% in English plus best 3. Mature age entry will depend on work experience and competencies in English language.
