Unit Name: Postcolonial Literatures

Description: The focus of this course will be Fijian literature as an example of postcolonial literature. Fiji\'s literature will be studied closely in the context of the South Pacific region. The course will offer students an extensive reading program; they will study fiction, poetry, plays, and non-fiction written by Fijian authors. They will also examine selected books by writers from the South Pacific. The students will gain knowledge and the meaning of postcolonial literatures - their history, development, styles and themes and major theories.
