Unit Name: Introduction to iTaukei Language Studies

Description: The course introduces students to the various uses of itaukei language, provides it historical account, the itaukei language and dialects exist in Fiji, the itaukei language writing process and its uses in education. Students will be allowed to participate effectively in an academic setting to develop good writing skills reflecting clear logical thinking. Students will also be encouraged to read and critically analyse authentic texts relevant to their chosen essay topics. Students are also expected to take part in seminars where they have to present an in-depth discussion of a topic.

Learning Target Outcomes:

Prerequisite: N/A

Prerequisite Sentence: A pass in Form 7/Year 13 exam with a minimum total of 200 marks or equivalent . Recognition would be given to mature aged students who do not meet the 13 years of continous progression but who have relevant work experience and prior learning.
