Description: An important goal of the upcoming 5th IPCC Assessment Report (AR5) will be improved coherence across the three IPCC Working Groups. Helping to achieve this goal, the IPCC Workshop on Socioeconomic Scenarios for Climate Change Impact and Response Assessment contributed significantly to the process of facilitating the development of new scenarios that will be used for the assessment of projected climate change and its impacts, the degree to which adaptation and mitigation policies could reduce changes and impacts, and the costs of action and inaction.
