This qualification reflects the role of individuals who are competent in area of sports science such as training, coaching, and fitness. Training and teaching work would be undertaken in the play grounds/courts, and labs and in the wider sporting industry. This qualification is designed to reflect the role of those who perform basic or no routine activities involving individual responsibilities or autonomy or collaboration with others as part of a team.
The minimum entry requirement for a Trade Diploma in Sports Science (Level V) is as follows: a) Completion of Fiji School Leaving Certificate Examination or Fiji Year 12 internal Annual Exam/Assessment with a pass in English or 12 years of education with continuous progressionor equivalent. b) Applicants who have successfully completed Certificates at Level III in Sports Science may also meet the minimum entry criteria for admission in the Trade Diploma in Sports Science (Level V) programme in their respective subject areas. c) Applicant may also be admitted to the programme who may not meet the requirement on the years of continuous education progression, but who are able to demonstrate their ability to succeed in programmes at these levels on the basis of their maturity, work experience or prior learning and are 17 years of age.
