Programme Description
The Emergency Medicine teachingprogrammewill develop a sound knowledge base and practical skill competency in the hospital emergency department setting in the Pacific Region. It aims to improve performance skills in: history taking; physical examination; ordering and interpretation of appropriate investigations, formation of a differential diagnosis , initial management (resuscitation/stabilization) of acutely unwell and injured patients. It aims to develop proficiency in emergency procedures and interventions, communication with other health care workers (at all hierarchical levels) and necessary skills in leadership and administration. The Masters in Emergency Medicine is an important step in the development of Emergency Medicine as a fully-fledged clinical discipline which will greatly improve the delivery of healthcare to the people of Fiji and other Pacific Island countries

Minimum Requirement
1. A minimum of 65% overall mark in EMD800.
2. PGDEMD award (but less than 65% overall mark in EMD801), together with a mandatory entrance/general exam (with a minimum score of 65%); or 
3. Repeat of the PGDEMD programme and obtained minimum of 65% in the repeat year for the course EMD801.
4. The above points must be obtained within the previous 3 years of the proposed year of entry.
5. For those who have obtained the PGDEMD and with a minimum of 65% but have exceeded the maximum 3 years’ post-qualification (as specified above) for entry into MMED (EMD) will be required to pass the entrance/general exam (>65%).
6. Applicants should be a citizen of a Pacific Island country; outside applicants may be considered
