The Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing (Perioperative Nursing) will prepare nurses to move into specialty areas of Operating theatre and Recovery Room Nursing. It comprises of practicing skills in operating theatre and nursing care given to patients in post anaesthetic and recovery room.
This is the first postgraduate Programme in Perioperative Nursing in Fiji and in the Pacific.
This programme is in line with the Ministry of Health and Services strategic move towards specialization in Nursing.
This is an advanced level with 120 credit points with a full-time duration of one year and/or up to two years part-time offered at the School of Nursing. It will be taught at Level 8 under Fiji Qualifications Framework (FQF) and the University Qualification Framework concurrently over two semesters. This programme is designed to allow for nurses working full-time to study and work. This programme is also benchmarked for its creditability with University Sydney (UTS). 

•	Bachelor of Nursing with the GPA of 3.0 or equivalent from a recognized institution and a minimum of three years’ work experience as a nurse after graduation and
•	One year of recent experiences within the Operating Theatre and Post Operative Recovery Room.
•	Students who do not meet the GPA of 3.0 in bachelor’s degree may be allowed entry based on their work experience in Perioperative Specialty nursing and a letter of recommendations from their immediate supervisor. 
•	Applicants who do not have a bachelor’s degree in Nursing, but who are able to demonstrate ability to succeed based on maturity, work experience, or prior learning may also apply specifically, registered nurses with three (3) years of Operating Theatre and post operative Recovery Room Nursing experience.
•	 Applicants must be registered with the Fiji Nursing Council (FNC) with their current license to practice prior to the commencement of the academic year.
