Mr Semesa Druavesi Karavaki hails from the Island of Lakeba, in the Lau Group, the village of Vakano. He is the fifth in a family of eight siblings. He attended primary school at Uluiqalau District School in his village and Delana Methodist School in Ovalau, Lomaiviti. Karavaki pursued high school studies at Ratu Sukuna Memorial School, Ratu Finau Secondary School, Queen Victoria School, and Marist Brothers High School.

Karavaki served in the Government in different capacities, including Divisional Transport Officer Northern, Acting Assistant Controller of Road Transport, Legal and Senior Legal Officer at the DPP Office, Principle Legal Officer at the Attorney General Office, Secretary to the Ravuvu Constitution Review Commission and Supervisor of Elections. As Secretary to the Ravuvu Constitution Review Commission, Semesa was named by His Excellency the President as part of the four-member Panel mandated to prepare a report based on the information collated by the Commission.

He was also a part of the process of overseeing the change of the Department of Road Transport to what is now known as the Land Transport Authority (LTA) when he was assigned from the DPP’s Office. Having been the first Manager Legal for the Land Transport Authority, he was responsible for the formulation of policies that created the LTA Governance System.

Karavaki started his private Legal Practice of JARVAS LAW in 2007 and also spent time managing Self Support Gospel Ministries before he joined politics in 2014.

He served as a Member of Parliament for SODELPA Party from 2014 to 2018. He was a member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Justice, Law and Human Rights. During his four years term in Parliament, Semesa, was the Shadow Attorney General for the Opposition Parties.

He is married to Anaseini Madigibuli and they have four children.
