Mr Mohammed Rasheed Igbal

Mr Mohammed Rasheed Igbal is an elected council member representing Postgraduate Students at Fiji National University (FNU).

He is the National President of the Fiji National University Students’ Association (FNUSA).

Before assuming the role of National President, he served as the Director of Planning and Management for FNUSA from 1 January 2017 until 9 November 2022. Within FNUSA, Mr Igbal has taken on various responsibilities, including the former Chair of the Commission of Inquiry, Chair of the Annual General Meeting, and Coordinator Officer for Students’ Elections to the Fijian Elections Office.

Prior to his appointment in 2016, Mr Igbal was the President of the College of Agriculture, Fisheries & Forestry (CAFF) Indo-Fijian Students’ Association and CAFF Representative. Additionally, he was a member of the FNU Steering Committee in 2016.

From 2016 to 9 November 2022, Mr Igbal was designated an independent member by the CAFF Students’ Association Senate, serving as the CAFFSA Student Consultant. Notably, he authored the CAFFSA Constitution, emphasising respect for religious diversity, gender equality, and equal rights for students of all races and regions.

An alumnus of Fiji National University, Mr Igbal received special recognition on 16 November 2016, for his significant contributions to establishing the FNUSA.

Mr Igbal is a Doctoral Student Representative at the University Research Committee (URC) and Higher Degree Research Committee (HDRC). In 2021, he was also elected as a council member representing Postgraduate Students at FNU.

Mr. Igbal’s involvement extends beyond the university, as he has attended various National, International, and hybrid conferences. His leadership initiatives have earned him multiple competitive awards, assistance, and recognition. Throughout his journey, he has held numerous leadership positions in various organisations.
