Dr. Odille Chang

Dr. Chang is an Associate Professor of psychiatry at the Fiji National University with more than 25 years of experience in mental health clinical services, policy, and planning. She is also the Associate Dean for Learning and Teaching at the College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences. Dr. Chang is an alumnus of the Fiji School of Medicine and is also a regional member of the Royal Australian and NZ College of psychiatrists.

She is an avid researcher and has publications related to the Fiji mental health legislation, capacity building, telehealth, gender-based violence and art as a recovery tool.

Dr. Chang is also a strong advocate for mental health in Fiji and is a member of several national and regional mental health bodies including the Fiji Mental Health Review Board, National Mental Health Advisory Council, and is a strong advocate for local mental health NGOs. She is the elected member of the Fiji Medical Council and Chairperson of the Medical Professional Standards Committee. She is also a founding member of the National Committee for the Prevention of Suicide (NCOPS) and the Oceania Society for Mental Health Professionals (OSMH).

She is a WHO regional mental health advisor, contributor/peer reviewer for the 2022 WHO World Mental Health Report, and member of the WHO core expert group for the implementation of the mental health framework for the Western Pacific region.

Dr. Chang is a Member of the Order of Fiji, for her meritorious service in psychiatry and contributing significantly to addressing mental health issues in Fiji.
