Graduate Studies (GS) Scholarship

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the GS Scholarship to undertake Masters by Research and Doctor of Philosophy studies at the Fiji National University.

The University is keen to fund GS studies in any of the five key disciplines for a period of two years for Masters by Research degree and three years for Doctor of Philosophy on full-time study basis.

Disciplines of Study Include:

  • Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry
  • Business, Hospitality and Tourism Studies
  • Engineering, Science and Technology
  • Humanities and Education
  • Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences

Scholarship Benefits

  • Tuition Fees (paid directly)
  • General Service Fees (paid directly)
  • Book Allowance of up to FJD750
  • Living Allowance of FJD21,600 per year
  • Dependent Allowance (if applicable)
  • Research Grant up to FJ$10,000 for Masters by Research and up to FJD15,000 for Doctor of Philosophy after confirmation of candidature

Scholarship Conditions

  • The scholarships are for full-time study only.
  • The applicant must be a Fiji citizen, and starting in 2025.
  • Awardees are not permitted to be in paid employment during the tenure of their awards and will be required to work a minimum of 40 hours per week for the entire year on their research.

Applicants must submit the following documents with subject line “GS Scholarship 2025” by no later than Wednesday 11th December at 4.30pm to ACIAR Graduate & Scholarship Officer on email aciar-go@fnu.ac.fj

  2. All applicants can propose a unique research topic that aligns with one of the broader research themes stated below:

    • Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry
    • Business, Hospitality and Tourism Studies
    • Engineering, Science and Technology
    • Humanities and Education
    • Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences

  3. Contact the corresponding FNU Associate Dean Research to enquire about the suitable Supervisor and Co-supervisor for the potential Research topic you wish to undertake for your program.

  4. Work in consultation with your FNU Supervisor and Co-Supervisor to ensure that you develop a sound Research statement/intent.

  5. Complete the application form and attach the required documents together with your application.
    • All documents need to be scanned as a PDF and sent as one single attachment via email.

  6. Submit your application to the ACIAR Graduate and Scholarship Officer via email at: aciar-go@fnu.ac.fj with the subject line “FNU GS Scholarship 2025“.
