Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the GS Scholarship to undertake Masters by Research and Doctor of Philosophy studies at the Fiji National University.
The University is keen to fund GS studies in any of the five key disciplines for a period of two years for Masters by Research degree and three years for Doctor of Philosophy on full-time study basis.

FNU Awards Five New Graduate Scholarships
The Research Office takes great pleasure in congratulating the five recipients of the 2025 Fiji National University Graduate Scholarship! These prestigious awards play a vital role in supporting graduate students as they contribute to FNU’s growing body of research across diverse disciplines. The recipients were selected from a large pool of excellent candidates, and we are grateful for their interest in pursuing or continuing their studies at FNU.
The FNU Graduate Scholarships are open to all candidates aspiring to undertake studies towards a Masters (by research) or PhD qualification in any discipline offered by FNU. The scholarship covers the tuition fees, general service fees, book allowance of up to FJD750, and a living allowance of FJD21,600 per year. Additional benefits include a dependent allowance (if applicable) and the opportunity to apply for a research grant, up to FJ10,000 for Masters and FJD15,000 for PhD, following confirmation of candidature.
The following candidates were successful in the 2025 round:
Malakai Tadulala, Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) under the College of Engineering and Technical Vocational Education and Training (CETVET), focusing on Developing Sustainable Water Resource Management, Hydrology, and Regional Hydrogeological Models Addressing Water Scarcity in Coastline, Food and Water Security, Climate Change, Abstraction Adaptation and Groundwater Resource Availability in Transient Systems under the supervision of Dr. Satyanarayan Shastri, Dr. Ulukalesi Tamata and Dr. Joeli Varo.
Waisea Makulau, Masters by Research under the College of Business, Hospitality and Tourism Studies (CBHTS), focusing on Exploring the Impact of Employee Well-being on Organizational Performance in Fiji\’s Hospitality Sector under the supervision of Professor Anand Chand and Dr. Shalendra Kumar.
Jiaoji Tuimoala, Masters by Research under the College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Science (CMNHS), focusing on Integrating GIS and Climate Data to Enhance Urban Vector-Borne Disease Surveillance and Emergency Response in Suva under the supervision of Dr. Donald Wilson and Advisor Dr. Michael Walsh from University of Sydney.
Moiz Chaudhary, Masters by Research under the College of Humanities, Education and Law (CHEL), focusing on Inclusive curriculum in diverse Fijian classrooms under the supervision of Dr. Sunil Kumar and Prof. Govinda Lingam.
Ravneel Reddy, Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) under the College of Humanities, Education and Law (CHEL), focusing on Examining the Nature of Scientific Investigation in Primary School Science Curriculum in Fiji, under the supervision of Professor Mesake Dakuidreketi, Dr. Satish Chand and Dr. Sofia Ali.
