ORAL HEALTH PACIFIC ISLANDS ALLIANCE CONFERENCE 2023 [OPIA]
6th Meeting of Pacific Islands Chief Dental Officers

The Fiji National University’s College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences (CMNHS) is the premier medical institution in the South Pacific, educating Health Care Professionals since its establishment in 1885. Its five schools provide training in health sciences disciplines including medicine, nursing, dentistry, pharmacy, physiotherapy, radiography, laboratory technology, public health, dietetics and environmental health. As a future-focused, dual sector university, CMNHS undertakes research with real world impact, aligned to national priorities and with regional and global relevance.

The CMNHS is in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and is committed to achieve it. “In the next 20 years, medical services will be raised to international standards with a major focus on tertiary health care and overall medical service delivery. More emphasis will be placed on preventive health care.’’

This meeting of Pacific Islands Chief Dental Officers will focus on oral health services required to achieve universal health coverage by 2030. With an aim to achieve regional collaboration and exchange of ideas, this Oral Health Pacific Islands Alliance meeting brings together representatives from twenty-one (21) Pacific Island countries, regional and global stakeholders to share research and deliberate on an action plan to improve oral health in the region.
