Western schools enlightened after FNU’s visit

The Fiji National University (FNU) delivered a career discovery session at Korovuto College in Nadi yesterday.

FNU commenced its Career Discovery Session for High School Students last month in the Central and Western Divisions. The teams visited Tavua District College, Nilsen College, Lautoka Andhra Sangam, Natabua High School, Korovuto College, and Nasesevia Secondary Schools yesterday.

Korovuto College Assistant Headgirl, Tanisha Reddy aspires to join the Fiji National University (FNU) in the hopes of becoming a doctor.

“I want to study at FNU’s, College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences (CMNHS) to become a doctor. I have always wanted to enter this profession to save lives,” the young Nadi girl said.

Originally from Uciwai Village in Nadi, the Year 13 student stated that the career discovery session was very informative.

“The presentation today really impacted me in learning more about my choice of career; on when to apply and how to apply, as well as the marks I need to obtain to qualify for the programme that I am interested in,” she said.

“I would like to study at FNU as the institution assures that their students are workforce-ready, giving me work experience in my chosen work field.”

Korovuto College Assistant Principal, Jupendra Narayan added that the sessions would allow the students of Korovuto College to make the right career choices following the career discovery session.

“The presentation by FNU’s team was timely and this will prepare our students for career aspirations they want to pursue once they decide to join FNU,” Narayan said.

“It will really assist our Year 12 and 13 students plan well for a brighter and rewarding career in their lives, which is essential for them now.

“From our observations, students have a lot of opportunities at FNU in terms of the variety of programmes being offered, the delivery modes and most importantly the enrolment options available to them.”

Mogodro Secondary School Careers’ teacher, Mereseini Wati Ralifo said she was grateful to FNU for visiting their school in the interior of Ba this Monday.

“I would like to say a big vinaka vakalevu to FNU for coming all the way to Mogodro Secondary School in the interior of Ba, in the last vegetation of Ba, to be able to serve the students who are under our care here,” Ralifo said.

“I am the Careers Teacher here at Mogodro Secondary School, taking up careers for Years 11-13, and we are thankful to FNU for making themselves available.”

The high school visits will continue in the Western Division till 14 July, after which the teams will head to the Northern Division.

The teams will be visiting Nakauvadra High School, Rakiraki Public School, Lautoka Central, Agape Christian College, Navesau Adventist High School, and Nasau Secondary School today.
