MOCE, FIJI. Year 13 students from Moce Secondary School received provisional offer letters from the Fiji National University (FNU) today.
The letters were issued during the Careers Expo at their school in the Lau Group.
Amongst the students was Savenaca Waqabaca, who attended the expo with his father to explore programmes offered at FNU.
Despite being visually impaired, Savenaca actively sought advice about his educational options.
“FNU answered my questions. I asked them about taking computer studies, but after the advice and consultation, I have changed my mind. I will enroll in Music and Physical Education next year at FNU,” he said.
The expo organised by the Ministry of Education has provided an opportunity for all students to engage with university representatives and other stakeholders and gain insight into various academic pathways.
Moce Secondary School teacher Roko Dreu thanked FNU’s participation in the expo for the first time.
“It has enlightened our students; they are excited about what they learned at the expo, giving them a clearer understanding of what the university offers,” Mr Dreu said.
He added that the success of the six students in receiving their provisional offer letters was an achievement for Moce Secondary.
“With these offers, the students are now on the path toward pursuing their academic goals and aspirations at FNU.”
