Press Release Posted On: October 11, 2024

Twin brothers, Joeli Ratudradra and Voniani Qoro Ratudradra of Nilsen College in Vatukoula are now looking to become future students at the Fiji National University.

This followed the successful completion of the 2024 FNU Open Day at Natabua Campus in Lautoka.

Joeli and Voniani are aged 17-years-old and are Year 12 students.

Interestingly, the twins who hail from Najia Village in Viwa, Yasawa are blessed to be part of nine siblings.

Joeli’s subjects include Computer, Office Technology and History while Voniani’s subjects include Technical Drawing, Applied Technology and Agriculture, both inclusive of Maths and English.

Joeli is interested in carpentry and joinery while Voniani has his mind set on pursuing a programme in welding both under the FNU’s College of Engineering, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (CETVET).

“Looking at all the displays was just so overwhelming – knowing the efforts put in by the trainers and students at the Open Day to try and capture all our interests amazed me,” said Joeli.

“I have always wanted to join the construction industry, and I just got my confirmation looking at the model of a house displayed during the Open Day.

“I guess, part of my interest as well comes from my late grandfather as I used to be around him when I was very young looking at him with his toolbox and hammering away to fix things for my grandmother with a big smile on her face.”

Voniani highlighted that FNU was his choice.

“I have always wanted to do welding and just standing there listening to what will be offered has made me really want to complete secondary school, get good grades and attend no other university but FNU,” he added.

“We really want to study in an environment like this as the trainers and lecturers were very thorough and clear when explaining about what FNU has to offer.  I want to study hard and be a part of this great university.”

Meanwhile, Clayton Murikanaka, a teacher at Vatukaloko Secondary School shared how grateful he was to the tour guides, who provide detailed explanations about FNU and assisted his students with queries during the tour of the Open Day.
