The Fiji National University (FNU) was honoured to host a courtesy visit from the Tertiary Scholarships and Loans Service (TSLS) at its Nasinu Campus today Tuesday, 24 February 2025.
The visit facilitated timely and constructive discussions on TSLS’s mandates and services, key operational matters, recent developments, and future directions. It further reinforced collaboration between TSLS and FNU to ensure students receive clear, consistent, and equitable support throughout their academic journey.
Welcoming the TSLS delegation, FNU Vice-Chancellor Professor Unaisi Nabobo-Baba acknowledged the value of open engagement in advancing student success. She noted that the dialogue reaffirmed the shared responsibility of both institutions to uphold transparency and fairness in scholarship and loan processes.
“Today’s engagement has been both reassuring and forward-looking. It strengthens our collective commitment to ensuring that students are well informed, appropriately supported, and treated equitably. When our systems are aligned and communication is clear, students are empowered to focus on learning, growth, and their future contributions to Fiji,” Professor Nabobo-Baba said.
She said that partnerships grounded in trust and shared purpose are essential to national development stating that “FNU deeply appreciates TSLS’s continued dedication to widening access to education. By working closely together, we can remove uncertainty for students and create pathways that are inclusive, responsive, and sustainable.”

Tertiary Scholarships and Loans Service Chief Executive Officer, Dr Apisalome Movono delivers his remarks.
The TSLS delegation was led by Board Chair Na Gone Marama Bale na Roko Tui Dreketi – Ro Teimumu Vuikaba Kepa and Chief Executive Officer Dr Apisalome Movono.
Dr Movono emphasised TSLS’s intention to take a more proactive role within the higher education ecosystem saying “TSLS and FNU like other Tertiary Institutions are part of the same higher education ecosystem. That means our shared responsibility is not only to get students through the door, but to work together to help them succeed once they are here. We must be more proactive in supporting students as they transition into university life, especially given the complexities and expectations facing today’s Gen Z and millennial learners.”
TSLS Board Chair, Ro Teimumu Vuikaba Kepa echoed the importance of continued collaboration, noting that closer cooperation between TSLS and FNU would further strengthen outcomes for students across Fiji.
