Three Minutes Thesis (3MT) Competition

Graduate StudiesWe are thrilled to celebrate the success of the 3MT Competition, organised by the Centre for Graduate Studies (CGS) in collaboration with the FNU Student’s Association (FNUSA). A huge thank you to FNUSA for their hard work, dedication, and invaluable partnership in making this event possible.

In three minutes, participants are required to present their research problem, solution, hypothesis and approach in addressing their thesis topic to an audience of peers, as well as a high-calibre jury of experts from academia, business/industry and the public. Six participants representing their Colleges at FNU presented at the 3MT Competition at the Tiri Restaurant, Nasese Campus.College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences (CMNHS) Doctor of Philosophy student, Dr Nitik Ram was declared winner of the 3MT competition and was awarded a cash prize of $1,500.

The Runner-Up, representing the College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences (CMNHS) Masters by Research student was Ms Kelera Tuisova Naivalu who was awarded cash prize of $1,000. Ms Salote Berwick, Masters by Research student from the College of Agriculture Fisheries and Forest (CAFF), was declared a People’s Choice Award recipient by popular vote by the audience and was awarded cash prize of $1,000.

Other participants included Ms Shaba Alzina from the College of Engineering & Technical Vocational Education & Training (CETVET), Mr Robin Lal from the College of Humanities and Education and Law (CHEL), and Mr Salesi Kauvaka from the College of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (CAFF).

A heartfelt thank you to our presenters and panelists for their commitment and contributions. Your hard work has raised this competition to new levels and serves as a source of inspiration for others to participate in significant, impactful research. We appreciate everyone involved in making the 3MT Competition a success and look forward to continuing to inspire and innovate together!
