Parents are encouraged to accompany their children to the Programme Career and Consultation (PCC) at the Fiji National University’s College of Engineering & Technical Vocational Engineering & Training (CETVET).

The event started yesterday and will run until January 31.

It offers students an opportunity to receive expert advice on courses before enrolling.

CETVET Dean, Salabogi Mavoa, emphasised the importance of students having all the necessary information before making a decision about which programme to pursue.

“This is a great opportunity for parents to accompany their children and speak with our representatives who are present today,” Mavoa said.

“The Programme Career and Consultation will last for two weeks, and we are located at the A-Block Car Park, Derrick Campus, Samabula. This is also an opportunity for those already in the workforce to upgrade their qualifications.”

Litiana Vukuvukiseru accompanied his son, Joeli Matea, to enrol in the Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering (Honours).

“The staff are helpful, and we get to talk to the lecturers of the programme my son wants to pursue,” Vukuvukiseru said.

“It’s great that something like this has been set up, as it’s like a one-stop shop where everything is done at one venue.”

Nikil Kumar, a Year 12 student from last year, was able to gather more information about which courses he was eligible for.

Kumar added that he was able to receive firsthand information about the programmes available.
