Fiji National University has programmes and courses for everyone regardless of their exam results, says Fiji National University (FNU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Unaisi Nabobo-Baba.
The Vice-Chancellor urged students, parents and guardians to visit the upcoming FNU Roadshow venues scheduled to be held from this Thursday to Saturday in the Central, Western and Northern Divisions.
She added that the university offered technical and vocational education and training (TVET) and higher education and programmes for all eligible students.
“FNU also has programmes for those who may not have achieved the marks they hoped for in the external examinations,” she said.
“There are about 80 TVET programmes on offer for students to undertake. The TVET programmes at the Fiji National University are Certificate 3, 4 and Diploma Level 5 trade courses that are aligned to the current skills gaps faced in the country.”
“While some students may not have attained their intended marks in the recent Year 12 and Year 13 exams, we do not want this to hinder you from exploring alternative learning opportunities available at FNU that aligns with your interests and ambitions.”
“Students can easily take up a TVET programme as an entry pathway and upskill and progress to Higher Education undergraduate programmes at FNU.”
Students who are seeking academic counselling and guidance and wish to apply can visit FNU’s enrolment centers or the Roadshow Teams around the country.
“Students have the option to enrol in the Diploma level programmes using Year 12 external exam result. If you have passed English; you are secured for your future. If you have not done well in English, we have other options available to explore.
“We have level 4 TVET programmes where you can enrol in Level 4 Certificates using your Year 12 External result; this is a pathway to Bachelor level.”
“FNU also has bridging programmes where if you have not done well in English or Maths, you can do a bridging course for the semester and start with the Bachelor programme once completed. We also have Foundation programmes, whether in Arts, Sciences or Health Sciences, using your Year 12 marks.
“Students can also explore the Short Courses available for them at the National Training and Productivity Centre (NTPC).”
