Prasad’s Trailblazing Ambition

In a world where societal norms often dictate career choices, Sukrit Anish Prasad is boldly challenging conventions by pursuing a Bachelor of Nursing at the Fiji National University’s (FNU) College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences (CMNHS).

As he attended the orientation at the Tamavua Nursing Auditorium, Prasad radiated enthusiasm, excited to embark on this transformative journey.

“Being here at the Nursing School is a dream come true,” said Prasad, his eyes gleaming with determination.

The 19-year-old is keenly aware that nursing is a profession traditionally pursued by women, yet he embraces this challenge wholeheartedly.

“I am eager to make a difference in healthcare and show that men can belong in this field,” he said.

Originally hailing from Tabia on the outskirts of Labasa, Prasad stands out as the only son among his four siblings.

His journey into nursing is deeply inspired by the strong women in his life.

“My sisters have been my greatest motivation,” he said.

“They have shown me the importance of compassion and care, which fuels my passion for nursing.”

As he becomes the first male in his family to pursue a career in this field, Prasad embodies a spirit of trailblazing ambition.

“I hope to encourage other men to consider nursing,” he said.

“It’s a profession where you can truly change lives, and it’s time we break those stereotypes.”

The former Tabia Sanatan College student is setting a powerful example for aspiring male nurses across Fiji and beyond.

In a profession that thrives on empathy and dedication, Prasad’s commitment to his journey not only highlights the importance of diverse representation in nursing but also redefines what it means to pursue one’s passion.

As Prasad stated, “No dream is too big when you follow your heart.”
