After losing her father at just nine months old, Litia Moce was raised by her widowed mother. While still completing her primary-level education, Moce made a promise to her mother that, as an only child, she would build a better future for them both.

Now 24, Moce serves as a primary school teacher at St Teresa’s Catholic School in Ba and is grateful that she is steadily fulfilling that promise. Originally from Lodoni in Tailevu, she has been in the teaching profession for three years.

She recently visited the Fiji National University (FNU) 2026 Roadshow booth in Ba to enrol in the Bachelor of Education (Primary) programme as an in-service teacher. The programme is offered under FNU’s College of Humanities, Education and Law.

Interestingly, Moce’s mother is also a teacher, currently serving at Balevuto Public School.

“Seeing my mother work tirelessly every day as a teacher, and witnessing her strong Catholic faith in Christ, inspired me to also become a teacher one day,” she shared.“Initially, I wanted to become a veterinarian, but God knew I was needed in the classroom. I am blessed to be in this field because I love children and I love teaching.”

Moce also aspires to become a lecturer at FNU in the future.

Meanwhile, 17-year-old Ansh Kumar is striving to honour the words of his late parents, who encouraged him to “become something great in life.” Kumar sadly lost his mother while he was in Year 8 and his father just last year.

Despite these hardships, he proudly received his Offer Letter to pursue a Diploma in Agriculture (Level 5) under FNU’s College of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (CAFF).

“I chose this programme because I believe agriculture is the backbone of the nation, addressing food security and climate change,” he said.

“My passion is to work for the Biosecurity Authority of Fiji and protect our borders to safeguard the agriculture sector.”

Meanwhile, the FNU 2026 Roadshow continues across Rakiraki, Tavua, Lautoka, Nadi, Sigatoka, Navua, Nausori, Labasa, Taveuni and Levuka, as teams enter the final leg of the Roadshow, which concludes this Saturday.
