Fiji National University’s (FNU) National Training and Productivity Centre (NTPC) is in the first stage of implementing Banner Student Module which is the core student management and Customer Relationship Management Recruit system (CRM) to register students into new programmes.

The rolling out of the Banner Student Module will make the admission and registration process of students even easier. This module is part of the University Information Management System (UIMS), which is a unified information system acquired by the University to integrate its different enterprise systems into a common platform.

Students applying for studies at NTPC are now registered through an online CRM system. Once a student commences their application, the system provides complete visibility on the status of the application until the student is registered to the desired course.

Those students undertaking short courses through NTPC are provided login access to Student Self Service, thus enabling students to track upcoming short courses and easy registration into the new programmes.

The second stage of implementation, which is planned for next year, will extend to the five colleges of the University.

The UIMS Project Student Systems Team Lead, Namrata Reddy said several additional components that make up the student-life cycle will now be made available to students via the student self-service online portal.

“The aim is to allow students to have a smooth journey through their studies without having to travel across campuses for administrative purposes,” said Reddy.

The new system enables students to use the self-service portal to complete admission, registration, plan their academic journey, track their academic progress and apply for graduation.

FNU plans to undertake the degree evaluation for students in the second phase of the project. This will enable students to plan and track their programme completion and academic progress electronically.

“The system will reduce waiting time for students and enable them to benefit across many other functionalities similarly.”

The University is also scheduled to launch Banner HR module for the Division of Human Resources by the end of this year while Ellucian Talent Management System is already live to manage employee performance, internal training and employee recruitments.

FNU’s UIMS Project Manager, Sanjay Singh said: “this will provide a single repository for all enterprise data ranging from students, faculty to employees.”

Earlier this year, FNU launched the Banner Finance system which provides real-time data relating to budgets for colleges and other sections of FNU. It provides users to better manage their procurement process.

“The implementation of Banner Student Modules further simplifies finance processes and reporting capabilities,” said Singh.
