Dr Jimaima Lako officiated at the Ba campus orientation

The Fiji National University’s (FNU) Ba campus conducted its Orientation earlier in the week and is geared up to offer a diverse selection of technical and vocational, education, and training programmes for Semester/ Quarter 1, 2024.

The Ba campus hosts a variety of programmes from three of FNU’s colleges, catering to the diverse needs of students, industries, and backgrounds in the surrounding areas of Ba, Tavua, Vatukoula and Rakiraki.

The three Colleges are the College of Business, Hospitality and Tourism Studies (CBHTS), the College of Technology and Technical Vocational Education & Training (CETVET) and more recently, the College of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (CAFF).

CAFF has begun offering the Diploma in Forestry (Level 5) and Certificate of Agriculture (Level 3) at Ba Campus.

The Acting Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Learning and Teaching, Dr Jimaima Lako, graced the orientation as the guest of honour alongside the Ba Head of Campus, Niraj Dharmendra.

Speaking at the event, Dr Lako expressed optimism for the impact these programmes will have on the students who have chosen FNU to realise their career paths.

“It is encouraging to note that many talented students and hard-working individuals from farming backgrounds will benefit from our newly introduced and continuing programmes under the three Colleges. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the students for choosing FNU and placing confidence in us,” said Dr Lako.

“Our FNU Ba campus is purposefully driven to cater to students residing in Ba, Tavua, Vatukoula and Rakiraki. In line with this, we specifically offer programmes that fall under the three colleges of CETVET, CBHTS, and CAFF.”

FNU is committed to placing students at the heart of its mission, as emphasised by Head of Campus, Niraj Dharmendra.

“You will have the opportunity to learn new things, acquire new knowledge, develop new skills, and enhance your personal attributes in profound ways that will equip you for the rest of your life.”

18-year-old Praveen Prakash, who is enrolled in the Certificate in Joinery and Cabinet Making (Level 3) programme, attended the orientation and shared that FNU programmes aligned to his field of interest.
