FNU Vice-Chancellor, Prof Unaisi Nabobo-Baba, with the student colour
The Fiji National University’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Unaisi Nabobo-Baba, today officially launched the Students’ Colour – Burnt Orange, an initiative that will be implemented across all 17 FNU campuses. As part of this initiative, one side of a designated wall on each campus will be painted ‘burnt orange’ to clearly signify a dedicated students’ space, a visible symbol of student identity, voice, and belonging within the University.

While addressing Student Association Leaders, Professor Nabobo-Baba highlighted the importance of creating intentional, student-centred spaces that support leadership development, wellbeing, and collaboration. She shared plans to strengthen student services, including student lounges, support facilities, and foundation assistance for students facing hardship.
Drawing from her own journey in education and leadership, Professor Nabobo-Baba encouraged student leaders to be proactive, innovative, and courageous in pursuing projects and opportunities that benefit the wider student community. She urged them to take ownership of their roles and to lead with integrity and purpose.
Professor Nabobo-Baba reminded students that leadership is defined by action, stating, “At the end of the day, people will look at what you build, not what you say.”
She emphasised that meaningful impact is achieved through tangible outcomes that leave a legacy for future generations of students.
The Vice-Chancellor encouraged students to look after their health, support one another, remain grounded in their values and faith, and to work together in building a stronger University and nation.
