FNU offers free short course for Hospitality and Tourism specialists

Eligible Fijians can Apply Now to undertake a free short course at the Fiji National University (FNU) through the Reskilling and Upskilling initiative.

More than 15 of the free short courses are offered by the University’s National Training and Productivity Centre (NTPC). Through these short courses, students will be able to gain skills in fields that could enhance their employment opportunities.

One of the programmes offered at NTPC’s, Department of Tourism Hospitality Fashion and Travel is the Management Development and Leadership Skills (MDLS) for Hospitality and Tourism Professionals course.

Course Instructor, Sheileshni Nair said the objective of the short course is to provide a broader understanding of management and leadership skills and increase the productivity of all employees by motivating and educating managers.

“As manager confidence increases, so does the ability of the manager to implement company strategies, mitigate internal conflict and train staff to perform better,” she said.

“The course is very popular amongst the Travel, Tourism and Hospitality industries. This short course is a standalone programme which consists of six modules, which is conducted simultaneously to provide our participants with the zest of core components of leadership”.

In addition to the Management Development and Leadership Skills for Hospitality and Tourism Professionals, NTPC is also offering the courses below under the Reskilling and Upskilling initiative.

 The application closing date for the NTPC short courses is Monday, 9 January 2023.

To qualify for the Free Reskilling and Upskilling placement at FNU, prospective students will have to complete an application form and submit it with the following documents: a self-Declaration of unemployment, Valid Photo ID, TIN Details, and Birth Certificate.
