Press Release Posted On: October 16, 2025

Students of our FNU Natabua Campus during the march to commemorate Fiji Day.

Students and staff from the College of Humanities, Education and Law (CHEL) and College of Engineering and Technical Vocational Education and Training (CETVET) joined in a campus-wide commemoration featuring a parade, flag-raising, and speakers who called for bold leadership and inclusive progress.

The celebration began with a campus-wide march, followed by a flag-raising ceremony and performances that showcased the spirit and talent of FNU’s Natabua community. The event’s Chief Guest, Dr Satish Chand, Head of School for the School of Education, framed Fiji Day as more than a date on the calendar. In his address, he urged reflection on shared values and the journey of the nation.

“The theme for this year’s celebration is ‘Peace, Unity & Progress for All’,” Dr Chand said.

“For Fiji to thrive in the next 50 years, peace must anchor us, unity must bind us, and progress must include us all.”

Dr Chand also challenged students to dream boldly, act responsibly, and lead with compassion, reminding them that “the baton has been passed to your hands, and the nation is counting on you.”

He emphasised that Fiji’s next half-century must be defined by inclusive progress and collective responsibility.

The Natabua gathering highlighted the enduring importance of Fiji Day as a moment for intergenerational dialogue, community service, and a shared vow to build a more peaceful, united, and prosperous nation.

FNU staff of Natabua Campus gathered to celebrate the country’s 55 years of independence.

In addition to formal addresses, organisers spotlighted student-led initiatives and classroom projects from CHEL and CETVET, underscoring FNU’s commitment to integrating academic study with national development goals.
