Fiji National University’s (FNU) March Graduation Ceremony – 2023
Fiji National University (FNU) graduates were reminded of the crucial role they played in contributing to the productivity and development of the workforce during the first session of the University’s March graduation ceremonies.
Chief Guest and Minister for Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations Honourable Agni Deo Singh, congratulated the graduates and challenged them to persevere and succeed in the workforce.
“As the newest batch of graduates to enter the workforce – of course, some of you may already be in employment – it is crucial that you understand the important role you will all need to play in the progress and development of the nation,” Honourable Singh said.
“It is a given that the world of work is constantly evolving. Hence, we all need to keep abreast and be adaptable to the current and new trends and standards.”
“I encourage you all to go forward and pursue your professional aspirations with all your might.”
The first session featured graduates from the the College of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (CAFF), College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences (CMNHS), Fiji Maritime Academy (FMA), National Training and Productivity Authority (NTPC) and the NTPC Apprenticeship Scheme.
FNU Chancellor, Dr Adi Kesaia Seniloli added that graduation was an auspicious and special event for all the graduands and their families.
“It is pleasing to see that the Fiji National University was chosen as the university of learning that trained and qualified students who will now go into the world and implement the skills, knowledge, and expertise acquired at the University,” Dr Seniloli said.
“I wish you all the very best in your endeavours as you start a new chapter in your lives.”
FNU Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Unaisi Nabobo-Baba said today was a culmination of the late nights of studying, sacrifices and student journey at FNU.
“FNU takes pride in playing an important role in your academic journey, connecting you with your dream jobs, shaping your future, and making your family and our beloved nation proud,” Professor Nabobo-Baba shared.
“You will all play an important role in the sustainable development and growth of our agricultural, fisheries forestry, medical and maritime sectors and in enhancing the productivity of our labour force.”
CAFF graduate, Sheryl Dutt was one of 298 graduates who attended the ceremony with her family.
“I am so excited to have finally graduated from FNU. I would like to thank each and every one who was part of my journey and helping me with my studies,” she shared excitedly.
Dutt and her brother, Shanil both graduated today from the Bachelor of Science in Agriculture programme.
Her advice to current students was to be confident in pursuing their dreams.
“Live the life you have imagined but always be ready to face challenges in life. You can make all your dreams come true by working hard.”
The second session will feature graduates from the College of Business, Hospitality and Tourism Studies (CBHTS). Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Strategic Planning, National Development and Statistics, Honourable Professor Biman Prasad will be the Chief Guest.
