The conference’s theme was unpacked through the SMART Tourism framework—Sustainable, Measurable, Accessible, Responsive, and Technology-driven, emphasising digital transformation, inclusivity, and resilience.

Sessions explored strategies for integrating cutting-edge innovations such as AI-powered guest services, eco-friendly operations, and customer experience tools to bolster service excellence and environmental stewardship.

NTPC Director of Productivity and Promotions, Bob Mitchell, welcomed delegates with a call for increased collaboration across sectors.

“We can no longer afford to work in silos. Collaboration, innovation, and knowledge-sharing must be at the heart of everything we do if we are to sustain and grow this vital sector,” he said.

As part of his address, Mitchell reaffirmed FNU’s commitment to supporting Fiji’s National Development Plan (NDP) by continuously building human capital and enhancing productivity across the tourism sector.

Honourable Gavoka also spotlighted the vital role of sustainability in maintaining Fiji’s appeal as a destination, stating, “Fiji’s breathtaking landscapes are our most precious resource, and protecting them is non-negotiable. Let us prove that tourism and environmental care can thrive together.”

He further commended the FNU Foundation for removing financial barriers for aspiring hospitality professionals, encouraging greater industry involvement in scholarships and mentorships.

He emphasised that investing in the next generation is not just philanthropy; it is securing Fiji’s tourism legacy by empowering skilled, passionate leaders.
