In an effort to bridge the educational gap and empower local communities, the Fiji National University’s Outreach Team embarked on a mission to enlighten residents of Dakuni and Nawaisomo in Beqa regarding the numerous educational opportunities available in the realm of Higher Education and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) last week.

The crucial outreach initiative took place during the Rewa Provincial Council meeting, a gathering that proved to be an ideal platform for disseminating essential information. The FNU team conducted informative sessions and engaged with the villagers, shedding light on the diverse range of programmes and courses offered by the university.

The villagers were apprised of the benefits of pursuing higher education and technical and vocational training, including opportunities for personal growth and career advancement.

With the FNU Outreach Team’s efforts, the residents of Dakuni and Nawaisomo are now better equipped to make informed decisions about their educational and career pathways. The initiative underscores FNU’s commitment to fostering educational inclusivity and facilitating access to quality higher education and vocational training for all Fijians.

FNU’s outreach initiative aligns with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 4 by promoting equal access to education, lifelong learning, technical and vocational education, community empowerment, and improving the living standards of the local population. It exemplifies the global commitment to quality education as a means to achieve sustainable development.
