“To ensure students stay informed and engaged, Film Fiji encourages their involvement in the Fiji Film Collective and provides ongoing support to facilitate film production and networking,” said Wijekoon.
She said that FNU students had the opportunity to engage with international productions filmed in Fiji, such as Netflix, Survivor, and Love Island, gaining firsthand experience in the industry.
“Our students benefit not only from academic training but also from practical industry support, including mentorship, location scouting, and broader networking opportunities,” she added.
“We are offering this film curriculum in an online format due to the significant demand from industry professionals seeking to enhance their qualifications while employed, and it has achieved a 100 per cent success rate.”
Wijekoon also highlighted plans for expanded collaboration between FNU and Film Fiji, particularly in introducing new short courses to further develop local skills and enhance qualifications within the Fijian film industry.

About the programme
The progressive nature of the FTV program requires students to follow a stair-casing program from Basics of FTV to Secondary FTV through to a Final Project phase. The aim of this progression is to enable students to learn the full range of specialisations incorporated in FTV Production, to enable career-ready technicians as they enter Film and TV careers. The learning is provided through classroom instruction, hands-on workshops, practical and multiple opportunities to work and earn with the producers from overseas production houses, (Australia/ France/ Sweden/ Spain/ New Zealand/ US) the students acquire a thorough production experience in their specialisation. It’s a great prospect for students to learn from the different crew members and be exposed to the latest technology.
