Dr Naibuka Saune

Dr Naibuka Saune is a prominent Fijian investment and finance expert currently serving as Chief Investment Officer of the Fiji National Provident Fund (FNPF), a role he has held since September 2023.

In this capacity, he oversees FNPF’s investment strategy and portfolio management, managing assets valued at more than $9.35 billion. He brings extensive expertise in corporate finance, capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, and investment management.

Dr Saune also serves as Chairperson of the Board of Digital Financial Services Pte Ltd (DFS), a subsidiary of Vodafone Fiji responsible for managing the M-PAiSA digital financial platform.

Prior to joining FNPF, Dr Saune served as Chief Executive Officer of Merchant Finance and previously held the role of Head of Mergers and Acquisitions at Amalgamated Telecom Holdings (ATH). He is widely recognised for his work in corporate transformation, investment strategy, and managing significant financial portfolios.

Dr Saune holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Accounting (Financial and Capital Markets Research) from the University of Technology Sydney, a Master of Philosophy in Accounting (Financial and Capital Markets Research) from the University of New South Wales, and a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from the University of the South Pacific.

He also serves as a non-executive director on several company boards in Fiji and the wider Pacific region, including FINTEL and Telecom Fiji Limited, and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD).
