
Dr Kaliova Ravuiwasa
Dr Ravuiwasa is recognised as the youngest Dean at FNU, reflecting his dedication, capability, and strong leadership within the institution. Known for his approachable leadership style and organisational strengths, he has played a significant role in strengthening learning, teaching, and programme development within CAFF and across the University.
Dr Kaliova Ravuiwasa is an accomplished academic, researcher, and leader in the field of entomology, currently serving as Dean of the College of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (CAFF) at the Fiji National University. He is also an Associate Professor in Entomology with extensive experience in higher education, research, leadership, and agricultural development across Fiji and the Pacific region.
Dr Ravuiwasa holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Entomology from the Republic of China and Taiwan, where he also completed a Master of Science in Entomology. He earned his first qualification, a Diploma in Tropical Agriculture, from the University of the South Pacific’s College of Agriculture campus in Samoa.
Throughout his professional career, Dr Ravuiwasa has held several senior leadership roles within the Fiji National University, including Associate Dean Learning and Teaching from 2016 until his appointment as Dean of the College of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry in 2024.
During his tenure, he successfully coordinated the transition of CAFF programmes from trimester to semester mode, facilitated programme accreditation and reviews, and established key working groups that strengthened academic quality, student learning, internships, outreach activities, and staff development. He also played a leading role in expanding access to education through the establishment of CAFF programmes at the Ba, Bonunaqwele Campus, and Naiyaca Campus. Dr Ravuiwasa continues to contribute significantly to the advancement of agriculture, forestry, and environmental sustainability in Fiji and the wider Pacific region.
