Ambassador Amenatave Yauvoli

Ambassador Amenatave Yauvoli is a seasoned Fijian and Pacific civil servant and diplomat with extensive experience in regional governance, diplomacy, sustainable development, and public policy.

He previously served as Director-General of the Melanesian Spearhead Group (MSG) Secretariat in Port Vila, a position he assumed in April 2016.

Prior to joining the MSG Secretariat, Ambassador Yauvoli served as Interim Secretary-General of the Pacific Islands Development Forum (PIDF), before subsequently being appointed Fiji’s Ambassador for Climate Change and Oceans, with both positions based in Suva.

In addition to several senior appointments within the Fijian Government, Ambassador Yauvoli served as Senior Policy Adviser for Sustainable Development with the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) from January 2004 to December 2005. He also served as Manager and Director of the Secretariat of the Pacific Community North Pacific Regional Office in the Federated States of Micronesia from February 2008 to December 2012.

Ambassador Yauvoli further served as Fiji’s Deputy Permanent Representative in New York from 2000 to 2003. He also held the positions of Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs and Permanent Secretary for Commerce, Investment, Industry, and Communication within the Fijian Government. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Management from the University of the South Pacific in 1988 and later obtained a Master of Commerce (Honours) in Development Economics from the University of Wollongong in 1996. Ambassador Yauvoli has contributed significantly to public policy discourse across Fiji and the Pacific region, particularly in the areas of finance, trade, climate change, and sustainable development.
